Guest guest
Yes Aravind , it is Aparajita Stuti in chapter five. Yes, noticing the dhyanam from Chapter 8 is from Lalita Sahasranam - yes it IS nice feeling to recognize old friendly shlokas. Padmanabhan has the concern that is shared by many people - pronunciation. Think of any mother, Padmanabhan, that has a child that goes to kindergarten. The child comes home and chants a nursery rhyme to please its mother. And it probably makes LOTS of mistakes. But to ears of the mother, it is music . She picks up and hugs the child. If an ordinary mother disregards mistakes made by a child, then what can we say about the Divine Mother ? I encourage you to read Swamiji's book "Pronunciation and Chandi Samputs" available at http://www.shreemaa.org/bookstore.htm Linda, dear , you are in the spotlight today. I was thinking about you when I chanted today. You have sooo many people on the group rooting for you - Jay telling you how he had the people from this group on this prayer list (isnt that sweet ?)... you have had many of the regulars come and cheer you on ... hey you even had a shy lurker (Kanna Krishnan ji) speak up to prod you on. Just think how wonderful it is to have people not just sympathize , but also to encourage you. As Ardis pointed out, she broke her fast due to certain circumstances, but she went right back at it. That is the spirit we are trying to cultivate - bouncing back up / springing back to action, however much you are pushed down. I know , as much as anyone that has taken a sankalpa and been unable to keep up - that what matters is the we take a moment to reassess ourselves - why did the sankalpa fail ? what could I do to be more prepared? What is my contingency plan ? For example, if I know that I am trying something ambitious for me and there are chances that I wont be able to keep up my word, is there a "default" sankalpa that I could do ? Can I listen to Chandi even if I am not able to chant it ? Or can I do 100 times of "Om Aim Hrim Klim Chamundaye Vicche" instead? .....ENDLESS possibilities! But we have to spring back up first ! Swamiji once said this to me when I asked him the question "What do you do when you feel you cant chant anymore?"He said" I do it anyway and thats when I get the most benefit". Granted, we may have physical problems that might prevent us for doing it anyway.. but the important thing is to not let yourself think that you are beaten ! We do what we need to , to feel like a winner, even if that means compromising on the sankalpa. Dear Linda, the answer usually comes from our hearts. Dont worry that you broke the sankalpa. See what you can do to fix it so that you can come through this Navaratri with some valuable insight and as a winner! Hope everyone is doing well. Take care, lets keep at it and meet tomorrow!
