Guest guest
Jai maa, everyone! I just discovered your organization, and must admit that I feel both thrilled and fortunate to have found such a group as this (with such quality teachers) exists to propagate a true method of sadhana. I have been seeking such a path for quite some time now, mainly through reading up on various traditions. However, I feel the time is ripe to put away the theoretical works and simply dive right in to the actual practice. So I was hoping perhaps someone could offer me some advice on how to take my first steps (i.e., what preliminary steps are recommended?). Any assistance provided will be most greatly welcomed/ appreciated! Peace to you all, Ryan
Guest guest
Welcome Ryan, The best first step in my opinion is to start a daily practice of Siva Puja Beginner. The text and CD are available at shreemaa.org. Also in the Group files section there is a wonderful class on Siva Puja that was offered by Nanda. Every Saturday at 11:30 PDT, there is a class on the Guru Gita on Messenger. I type up the verses for the week so you do not even need to have the text. We have a satsang blessed by Shree Maa and Swamiji. You need to add Chandimaakijai to your friend's list. She will invite you to the conference. Also on the main site, shreemaa.org, there are some fabulous online classes by Swami Satyananda Saraswati. But Puja is the beginning of forming a relationship with Divinity. Peace to you too, Your sister, Ardis On Apr 15, 2005, at 2:55 PM, bassoprofundo2112 wrote: > > > Jai maa, everyone! > > I just discovered your organization, and must admit that I feel both > thrilled and fortunate > to have found such a group as this (with such quality teachers) > exists to propagate a true > method of sadhana. Guest guest
Hi Ryan, Welcome! Jai Maa, we are all fortunate to be here. Nanda manages this forum and spends a lot of time with Shree Maa and Swamiji so she basically has all the answers. Until she responds, I can try and fill in a little. 1. Hang out here. We often do online activities. Then the steps for participation are worked out. 2. Visit http://www.ShreeMaa.org. When I first became involved, I learned the Shiva Puja. I think this is still a super way to start. It gets you into the DOING you want. The book, a slim volume, is available there. You can get it and Nanda and others can answer your questions on it. There is also a weekly online meeting, etc. Any word from Shree Maa or Swamiji are "words of the Guru." So they can be meditated on too. Another thought is a mantra. There are very good ones you can do, such as Om Aim Hrim Klim Chamundayai Vicce. Guest guest
Ryan, Congratulations! It is no small step to begin the journey of disciplined practice for the realization of Divinity. Many never really take that step. As Swamiji wrote me some months ago, and as Nanda lately never tires of saying, "Sandhana is the only way [to acheive perfection]." May God richly bless your every effort in Her direction. Guest guest
Hi Ryan, Nice to have you with us. Welcome. Why dont you take time browse our parent website http://www.ShreeMaa.org to know a bit more about our Gurus - Shree Maa and Swami Satyananda Saraswati. This will give you a good starting point and testing of the waters so to speak. Beginner puja is a GREAT way to start with this tradition. You can get either Durga Beginner or Shiva Beginner Puja books at http://www.shreemaa.org/bookstore.htm . I will send you a file with the step of the puja explained in detail. You can use this file in conjunction with one of the above books. And feel free to ask questions. If we are not able to resolve it in the group, I will forward to Swamiji for his feedback.
