Guest guest
Congratulations GRACE !!! Your 7 days were up and you completed the FULL BOOK. First to reach our finish line as she is one day ahead of us in Kali-forniay. For all of us that are going to complete tomorrow , I would like to remind you to stop after Verse 15 at Chapter 13, where the Goddess asks us what we want. Remember to ask for PURE Devotion. I wanted to share this story once again. This is especially relevant in the case of today's chapter 11. Once when Shree Maa was chanting at the temple, She stopped at verse 15 of chapter 13 and I leaned forward curious to hear what boon She was going to ask. She chanted two verses from Chapter 11 - and the meanings of both the verses - are prayers for protection of the Universe. Her first boon was (Verse 3) "Devi Prapannaarti Hare Prasida.....Caracarasya" and the second was (Verse 39) "Sarva badha prasamanam ... vinasanam". I would encourage you to look at the meanings in Chapter 11 to absorb the meaning. The verse "sarva badha ... vinasanam" is very popular at the Mandir. In the mornings, disciples chant this at the fire - 108 times. I would like to point out Verse 6 - "All women in the world reflect your capacity entirely" ... While that is great to know, isnt that a sobering thought ? We reflect Her capacity --- now we have to keep that in mind when we feel particularly mean or selfish . Dear Henny, glad to know that the Shiva Puja is helping you. It was a wonderful period - the constant interaction and q&A. Chris - you had mentioned in one of your posts - and I paraphrase "Sadhana is the answer as Nanda has not tired of saying lately". I wanted to share something from my personal experience today. I wont go into the details, but Mahishasura is alive and well and living inside me. So today before I started chapter 11, I was feeling blue-devilled and felt like giving a call to a few people to tell them EXACTLY what I thought of them and their actions. Then I remembered my own words to myself - "Take it to the Lord in Prayer" So I sat at my altar, didnt have the energy to chant chapter 11 so I read silently and half way through the reading I stopped for a few seconds .I told Her that I came to Praise Her not to bury my enemies (pardon me Shakespeare) . I cant explain it - I JUST FELT BETTER. I completed the silent chanting and then chanted the chapter all over again to celebrate. IT IS THE ONLY GAME IN TOWN ! External situations and people rarely change - what changes is that with sadhana, our love for Mother cushions us and not feel the pain. Verse 3 of the Praise to the Night of Duality says "She gave definition to Her sister, the Dawning Light, the Goddess who comes. And the Darkness departs". JAI GODDESS !!! Guest guest
Dear friends, by the grace of God and Guru I have completed the recitation of my first Chandi Path! I have some difficulty walking after the last long session, but it has been worth the effort! The entire week the Divine Mother has been in my thoughts and in my dreams, and this morning I have acquired a beautiful statue of Durga and her courageous lion, and now she has a prominent place in our living-room. I can't stop looking at her. 'Ah, but for an ounce of practice' said (I think it was) Swami Vivekananda, and he was so right. I am so glad I jumped in and, with all your help, have learned so much in such a short time. And it is very true that being part of a group effort helps! I have searched for a long time for 'spiritual company' and it is such a relief to have found it. So thank you all, and may the Divine Mother bless you all always, with love, Henny 'I shall never forsake the place where this narration is well recited; there my presence will constantly abide.' , Nanda <chandimaakijai> wrote: > Dear All, > Congratulations GRACE !!! Guest guest
Nanda, Yes, it is wonderful when Mother interviens, either directly, or through the changes She has made within as the result of our devoted practice. Just yesterday I was driving down the street when three young men pulled up beside me laughing and staring and goosing the accelerator. They repeated this three or four times. (I think it might've been because I was somking my pipe at the time [yes, I smoke a pipe], at least that's the only reason I can think of.) Anyway, in the past such an insult would have filled my heart with a mixture of rage and fear. As it was, I happened to have been mentally singing a bhajan at the time "Om namah Shivaya, Narayanaya namahah," and their actions barely touched my peace. I felt kind of surprised at the time. I don't know if Shiva was there, purposely covering my mind with a little extra blanket of peace for the occasion, or whether something inside has changed. As much as I like to think of God's constant compassionate protection, I hope it is that I have become a little more pure.
