Guest guest
Just finished my Parayana. It took much less time than expected. Maa's grace. Today is Ashtami and Saturday. Saturday is special for MAA and Ashtami is the best day for worshipping MAA. It is great that all of us finished our Parayana on such an auspicious day. Ashtami is also the day on which Maha Maya took birth as a human child in Krishna avathara. She was Nanda' child who replaced Krishna and got killed by Kamsa. She vanishes after warning Kamsa that the eighth child viz. Krishna is still alive. My earlier message was with a heading Ambe Bhavani. I was wondering why I thought of this. Then when I was doing Parayana I knew. In the Devyaparadha Kshamapana stotram MAA is called Bhavani. Normally I recite only the shorter one. But since our Sankalpa said – Rest of Swamiji's book- I recited cover to cover. This Sloka is attributed toSankaracharya who is also the author of Bhavanya Ashtakam na thatho na matha na bandhur na datha na putro na putri na brityo na bartha na jaaya na vidya na vrittirme maiva gathistwam, gathistwam twameka Bhavani. I was thrilled to read the following lines, which I think I should include in my daily prayers. (Page 403) Matsamah pathaki nasti papagni tvatsama na hi Evam jnatva Mahadevi yatha yogyam tatha kuru Oh Great Goddess, there is no greater evil doer than I, and there is no other that takes away sin as you. With such understanding, do what is proper. Jai MAA !!!
