Guest guest
It is thrilling to read about the Ashtami celebrations at the Mandir. Wish we could all have been there. The Kanya Puja conducted at Belur Math is a pleasure to watch. They do it every year. Swami Vivekannda, who is reported to have performed a Kanya Puja in Kashmir on his way to Amarnath, set the tradition. You should his photograph dressed as a Saiva Sadhu. Bibuthi Bhushan. I had a great experience on Ashtami day during the last Sharad Navaratri. I had gone for Dharshan to the Kalighat KAALI MAA temple in the evening. When I reached the Sanctum Sanctorum after some hours in the queue, it was night and time when Ashtami changed to Navami. Since they had a Puja for that, the doors were closed, but we were still in the Garba Griha. I stood on the skirting (some advantage of being known as the "Pagol") which runs around the Garba Griha and had a good view of MAA and the Puja. I will never forget it. Kanya Pujas are always a delight to perform and watch. We used to do it as part of the Sharad Navaratri celebrations. Here again I would not forget two of the Pujas. One we were blessed to perform at the Khamakya temple, and another one, when we were asked to perform the Kanya Puja at the end of my Diksha Guru's Chandi Yagna. Jai MAA !!!
