Guest guest
Maa Nanda had made a suggestion about chanting the Chandi Path daily. Now that many of us have recited it once, we know that it can be done. But to chant it regularly, we need to be more familiar with the epic. I would like to make a suggestion that we fix up seven days in a month when we do Chandi Parayana. That is one Parayana every month. This would make us more familiar with the text. We could underline the tongue twisters so that we tackle them better next month. Since we do feel bad when we are not able to keep a Sankalpa, we need not make this a Sankalpa. Let Maa Nanda announce the dates and the members can join in the Sankalpa. We will request Sree MAA and Swamiji to guide us. Jai MAA !!! Guest guest
Shankar, I really like the idea of continuing our group relationship with Chandi, and getting more familiar with the text. However, I would like to do something different... (I don't want to step on your toes or anything. If you're really attached to monthly seven day recitations....) Last Spring/Summer we had a Chandi class that covered about a chapter a week. Each person chanted that week's text each day and contemplated the English translation. (We needn't do a "class" in order to do this; we could handle questions on the forum.) What I really enjoyed was the easy pace, which allowed me to fit it in with other practices and really begin to relate to the actual meanings of the words. When I chant larger chunks I'm usually too busy trying to finish to pay the meaning the respect it deserves. I found that spending a week with one small section allowed me to "recognize" more passages, and engaged me more in the flow of the narrative. Of course, it also helped me get more comfortable with pronounciation. Let me know what you think (you too Nanda).
