Guest guest
posted an answer b4 but i think it was lost in cyber-space. anyway, the gist was, the benefit to seva is that you are participating in the mind of the Guru via his/her projects and spiritual works. that's the difference. its always good to give, but this is a specal form of association. the guru is not upholding the fabric of the world. everyone else is, more or less. so if you are interested in seeing that dissolve, hang out with the guru. that means seva, as you naturally want to do something for him or her. its all a mysterious business and sometimes contradictory. say, your guru is quite busy and really cannot be occupied. then you see seva on an entirely different level, and do all actions for him, as in, for krishna or shiva. ALL OF IT LEADS US OUT OF YOURSELVES and into the greater beingness, as much as we are capable of.
