Guest guest
Dear All, I would like to introduce a devotee of Maa and Swamiji. Her name is Nirmal Shankar and she is 75 years young. Here is her Chandi story. Jai Maa Nanda ======================================================= Namaste All, I was born in India and grew up in a Hindu traditional household. While I have been exposed to many scriptures, I heard about the Chandi only after meeting and watching Maa and Swamiji chanting this text . This was in 1997 in the US, and I was told this was a very powerful text. It was in mid 2003, when I got the opportunity to come to stay at the Mandir for a few months, that my interest in the Chandi really grew. I could feel some shakti (energy) when I watched and heard Maa and Swamiji chant this scripture. I also watched the devotees and disciples chant . I used to marvel at the sincerity of all those that grew up in the US but making such strides in the Chandi . I began to think that I too should make an effort to chant the Chandi . So I started to recite my first ever Chandi at the ripe young age of 73. I had and still have a lot of physical limitations . And I was hesitant to try in the beginning. Then Maa told me "Jitne Samarth" - which means "do as much as possible", in this case, "do as much as your physical energy allows you ". This encouraged me to give it a try. My Chandi journey has not been smooth . Sometimes my eyes would get tired and I would be forced to stop. Also I chant seated on a chair , since I am no longer able to sit on the floor . I would need to take several breaks and resume from where I left off. The first few times , I used to finish the entire Chandi in five days. But I just remembered Maa's words and took heart from those words. My only goal in the beginning was to chant bit by bit until I finished the text. I can still remember the happiness I felt by finishing the complete book in one single day, when I sat and chanted along with another devotee in the Mandir. Since that time, I have been chanting this text everyday. I do the full Chandi in one sitting .I chant the Seedha Path only if I am very ill, or have other pressing engagements . And on the days that I have the time, I chant the entire text twice. My "advice" (if I can give) to people starting the Chandi - have a clear goal based on what you really like to chant , and make all the efforts to reach it. There will be obstacles in the beginning but with determination it is definitely possible to chant. If I can do it at age 73 with my health , especially vision, problems, so can you. And feel the happiness that I have got as a result of this sadhana. Jai Maa Nirmal Shankar

Guest guest
Dear Nirmal Maa, thank you so much for your message of encouragement and faith. Your story helps us remember that, when we sincerely do what we can, we often find ourselves doing more than we thought we could. As I am slowly going through my second Chandi, I'll think of you and remember that. may our Divine Mother bless you always, with love, Henny , "Nanda" <chandimaakijai> wrote: > > > Dear All, > I would like to introduce a devotee of Maa and Swamiji.
