Guest guest
We are Divine Partners, Divine Lovers. We are inseparable, yet we feel separate. We are One and we are Many. We are the Avatar. From age to age when the forces of Dharma become weak, we take refuge in a body and return to the physical plane to fight the forces of division and to re-establish the standards of Truth, Love and Unity. We are bound together by our Love. We suffer a lot because of the perception of duality and separation which comes with a human body. Our sacrifice is great. Were we chosen to return to this realm or did we volunteer? The Buddhists say that the Bodhisattvas do it out of their infinite compassion for all sentient beings. The Bible makes it sound like Christ was only acting in obedience to Jehovah’s plan. Ramakrishna (an avatar of the 19th century) tells us “He who was Rama and Krishna is now in this body appearing as Ramakrishna.” One Hindu view is that there is only one Avatar but several or numerous incarnations; the Divine voluntarily returning to the physical plane to restore the Dharma. When I first heard about Bodhisattvas, I found it impossible to believe that any being could have enough compassion to keep on returning to this realm by choice until all sentient beings had been liberated from samsara. Krishna said that he returned for pure love’s sake. Om Attachment: (text/enriched) [not stored]
Guest guest
Thank you, Dear Pahari Maa, for asking the question about the amsa and thank you for writing about the Avatar. I find this a very difficult concept, because so many different things are said about it, and there is much difference of opinion among certain groups about who is and who is not an avatar. Your remark that there is only One Avatar cuts the matter down to the essential. The question that I still have is this: if The Avatar voluntarily returns to the physical plane, does It know this as soon as It has provided Itself with a physical vehicle, or does it take some time? And is the knowing/not knowing the difference between saints and sinners? So the Avatar manifest on the physical plane would be Knowledge united with Love? You see, you have given me food for meditation, with love, Henny , Ardis Jackson <ardis1@v...> wrote: > We are Divine Partners, Divine Lovers. > We are inseparable, yet we feel separate. > We are One and we are Many. > We are the Avatar. > > From age to age when the forces of Dharma become weak, we take refuge > in a body and return to the physical plane to fight the forces of > division and to re-establish the standards of Truth, Love and Unity. > > We are bound together by our Love. Guest guest
As to when the Avatar realizes His Divinity... Jesus was said to discover this when he was twelve and met with the rabbis in the temple. Shree Maa says that she knew it at birth. I believe the Avatar not only realizes their own divinity but realizes their Divine Purpose. Guest guest
Namaste Henny, If I may humbly throw in two cents worth - Just an observation - Rama appearantly did not know who he was, according to the Ramayana, until nearer to the end of his life. I think it was in Ravana's letter to Rama, which was delivered to Rama after He had slain Ravana, that Ravana first told Rama that he was in fact Lord Narayan. The Humble Rama said something like, "I don't really know what all this means". --- henny_v_i <HvI wrote: > > > Thank you, Dear Pahari Maa, for asking the question > about the amsa and > thank you for writing about the Avatar. Guest guest
Henny, This avatar question sounds to me like it might be an interesting one for Swamiji's interview Chris , "henny_v_i" <HvI@S...> wrote: > > > Thank you, Dear Pahari Maa, for asking the question about the amsa and > thank you for writing about the Avatar.
