Guest guest
Dear Nanda ~ I really liked all your points, but I have a question. You seem to define, on the one hand, guru seva as doing something directly for the guru, at the place where the guru lives, etc. Many of us do not have that blessing. Then, on the other hand, you say we can do guru seva whether we live close by or long distance. If we live long distance, how do we do guru seva as you have defined it? Do we ask Maa or Swamiji for a task? ~Linda ===================================================== Dear Linda, You raised a very good question. The help that we would give them would vary based on how close we lived near them. If we live close by then we probably would help with the day-to-day chores at the Mandir. I am a weekend visitor so my seva tends to be mostly online during the week and onsite on the weekend. I do weekly chores like cleaning out the rooms, floors etc. For people that live further away, thanks to the internet there are always online seva that one could do. If we look around in the forum, there are so many people that do seva at a distance. Yes, it is definitely much nicer to be assigned a task by Maa or Swamiji, but until then we step up to the plate and assist in chores that the other sevaks are doing ... We keep ourselves available to help. If you or anyone would sincerely like to participate in Guru Seva, you can send me an email and let me know what kind of tasks or projects that you would be willing to help in and how many hours you can devote in a month or week and I can forward to Swamiji. When the time is appropriate , it will happen. Thank you for your interest in seva. JAI MAA Nanda
