Dear all,

I'm just wondering: we can decide to do our utmost not to lie

consciously. But what about the times when we don't even realize we

are lying? Is learning how to live in Truth the same as learning to

recognize the lies that are ingrained in our very idea of our personal

identity; to become ever more conscious of untruth? Layer after layer

of untruths, being peeled off in order to reveal the core of Truth:

who does the peeling?

Namaste beloved family,

i just came upon a interesting example told by one of Paramahansa

Yoganandaji's disciples in regards to amother one of the Master's

disciples.

The situation is that someone named Boone had caused someone

considerable inconvenience by revealing, in answer to a question,

something that hadn't needed to be said. He was scolded for doing so,

and tried to justify himself by saying, "I only wanted to be honest,

that is why I told the truth."

This matter was later reported to the Master[Yoganandaji],who

commented indignantly, "Suppose someone came to me with the Holy

Bible, the Bhagavad Gita, and every great scripture in the world and

said to me, 'If I tell you something, will you swear on these Sacred

Books never to repeat what I have said?' And supposing I in good

faith replied, 'Yes, Yes, I promise.' And then, supposing further, he

told me, 'I have put a rattlesnake in M______'s bed!' What would I

do? It would have been wrong on my part to promise, but then should I

compound that mistake by saying, 'Oh, dear, I have promised; now I

must say nothing?' Which is worse, to break a promise, or to let

someone be killed if I am in a position to save him? Of course, I

would speak out!Imagine that boy [boone] causing serious trouble,

then trying to justify himself by saying he only wanted to tell the

truth!

"Truth is always BENEFICIAL. Boone wasn't telling the truth, for what

he did resulted in harm. What he stated was in fact only, not a

truth. He need not have answered at all! It would have been far

better for him to say nothing. If he needed to speak, however, it

would have been better at least to equivocate than to let someone be

hurt as a consequence." [From Converstions with Yogananda by Swami

Kriyananda] i hope my dear family found this story as enlightening

as i did! :<D Jai Chandi Shree Maa! Jai Shiva Swamiji! Jai

Thakur Ramakrishna Deva! Your sister always,

Once , Parvati (the disciple , not the Goddess ;) ) had posted a

question on the group "What is your definition of truth".

I pondered long and hard but couldnt come up with a definition.

Today, what you posted "Truth=God" I want to adopt as my definition.

It states it perfectly - not a word more needed.

Thank you.

Jai Guru
