Guest guest
Verse 102 of Guru Gita says '"So long as the body may remain, remember your Guru as a worshipful God. Do not give up on the Guru, even if he moves according to his own rhythm." Question from Chris: I am curious about the reference to "the body" in this verse. In this case there are two people involved, the reader and the guru. So whose body is being referred to here (perhaps both)? I guess what I'm curious about is how does the relationship change when one of them drops the body(esp. the guru). Swamiji's response: I use this verse to apply to both. When the guru leaves his or her body, we no longer have an external example to follow. We are required to rely on memory. That can be very difficult because of the tendency to remember things as we want to, and not necessarily as they were. Question from Nanda: Can you please share any insight on this verse? Thank you for your time. Swamiji's response: Yes, don't fire your guru because you don't understand what he or she is doing. Ask and you shall receive.
