Guest guest
Guru Gita Verse 107 " Oh Goddess, this is the king of mantras, Guru comprised of two letters. The Puranas and Vedas define the meaning of Guru as the actual Supreme amongst the highest." Dear friends ~ at first glance, this seems like the utmost simplicity. But what is the "actual Supreme amongst the highest." I believe this means that the Guru is the embodiment of the Divine on earth. To be Supreme amongst the highest and yet to remain on earth, teaching, loving, being a living example of the Truth ~ this is an act and a choice of great love and courage. It reminds me of the concept of the Bodhisattva in Buddhism. The Bodhisattva has attained the highest realms and yet chooses to return to earth for the welfare of all sentient beings. To me this describes Swami. Don't we all know that he would most prefer to be ever in Samadhi, but he returns again and again to be here for his devotees and for seekers. And going to the meaning that Swami has taught of the meaning of the word, GuRu ~ Gu being darkness and Ru meaning light, so that the Guru is one who takes away the darkness. All the things that Swamiji does exemplify this. There is none higher than the Guru. Jai Swamiji ~ Linda
Guest guest
The sentence does seem simple at first. It brings to mind two points from the book Before Becoming this, one where the author did not recognise Shree Maa at first due to Her simple and quiet manner and again where the author found difficulty (for lack of a better word) in bowing to Swamiji, so, Swamiji bowed to him instead. This shows the great humility in these Divine Beings who we call GuRu. To understand the wonderful work being done for humanity by these Beings is beyond our limited consciousness. The work is seen as a privilege and performed with the same simplicity as the verse at first glance appears. Jai Gurujis. Thanks Lindaji.
