Dear Kali ~ I particularly love this passage, partially because I love the twin swans (as they are called in the Chandi) of So and Ham, their meaning, using them as a mantra, etc. If I am looking out of my body, and I see discord, unhappiness, tragedy, then I need to go within and see what is happening inside, because the outside is a reflection of the inside, just as the verse says in the mirror being the clear reflection of the image which stands before it. Perhaps this is why Maa encourages us to go look in the mirror every morning and greet ourselves lovingly. Another source that I read (sorry, I don't remember) suggested going to the mirror periodically during the day and smiling as big as possible, to the point of rediculousness, until you start laughing. If cleanliness is next to Godliness, the I believe happiness is even closer. Recently some people have asked me about my screen name. Since it pertains to this verse, I will share the meaning with the group. Nierika is a Huichol Indian word. It means "portal to other (sacred) realities" and "mirror and face of the diety." It is a constant reminder to me to remember to see the divine in all things because when I look out that is what the world (mirror) reflects back to me, and then I am reminded that I, too, am a spark of the divine. Guest guest
Dear Linda, Beautiful explanation and oh so true. Nice name also. Thanks for reminding that we should greet the inner divinity each morning. How wonderful that our new web page at shreemaa.org is that of Maa seated on the swan (of vital breath). Jai Gurujis.
