~How does one recognize a True Sadhu?~

Pratibeshi [a neighbor]: "How can one recognize a true sadhu?"

 

Ramakrishna: "Those who have dedicated their mind, their vital force,

and their life to the attainment of God are the true sadhus. He who has

renounced all desire except the desire to realize God in this life is a

true sadhu. He is a genuine sadhu who looks on all women without

attachment or desire. His attention is always indrawn. If he has any

contact with a woman, he looks on her as his mother and venerates her

as divine. Real sadhus always contemplate God and never indulge in

worldly gossip. A true sadhu knows that God resides in every atom of

existence and therefore serves all creation. These are the indications

of a true sadhu."
