"one needs to go beyond the three gunas to realize God" and also, "how to prepare and purify myself for sustained sadhana". Ultimately, I think it is true that we go "beyond the three gunas to merge into complete oneness with God but, until that time, we should understand that the three gunas are simply the "matter" from which creation is formed. Every single thing in Creation is a mixture of the 3 gunas in varying degrees and each of the 3 gunas has its place in all of Creation. When Shiva descends through Shakti into Creation and the Causal body moves into what ultimately becomes the human experience, part of the template is understood to be the 3 gunas. The 3 gunas are part of the reason we walk around in bodies. For me, understanding this process in my own life, in the life of Nature in the life of the planet (the Natural process of Shristhi, Sthtiti and Samhara..Creation, Maintenance and Dissolution) is very very helpful not only in a "high philosophical way" but in a very down to Earth grounded acceptance of my humanity. If you look at your own day, you can see the ebb and flow of the 3gunas and, also, understand that they are interdependent and necessary to one another. So, again, for me, thinking about the underlying meaning of the 3 gunas helps me to realize that rajo guna is simply an "energy" and tamo guna is also an "energy" and sattva, the same. None of them are bad or good in and of themselves. I understand what you mean by "being more sattvic" and "purification" but I have to say that I think that the more practice we do, the more this happens as a natural result of the practices. All of the practices have a naturally purifying effect on the physical and mental systems and, through our intention, we can become more and more aware of that fact. I don't think we can "do" anything to "go beyond the gunas", that happens as the result of the Grace of God. We CAN "prepare ourselves" but, to me, much of that preparation is learning how to let go of trying to control the process so much and, instead, relaxing into the pure love of the practices. This allows a sense of "spaciousness" to arise instead of the contraction of trying too hard to be "spiritual". Grace needs space! The more of it we can create in our lives, through our unrestrained love of the Divine, the more things will "happen". At least this has been my experience, after years of turning like a top, trying harder and harder. When I relaxed into the joy of it, I began to understand the possibility of something I had only read about. best love, sadhvi

Guest guest
So I asked Maa when I saw her last week..."Maa, how can I be more sattvic.." Maa stopped, looked at me thoughtfully and asked "you are not sattvic ?". and I said "No Maa" And Maa said "Do your Karma, and tell Chandi Maa that everything is Her doing" So Simple - given knowing the heart of devotee." Dear Nanda, THANK YOU for passing this along!!!! I can so easily see Shree Maa saying this....so simple! so clear! ...just cutting through all the mental chatter. What a gift to turn on the computer this morning and find this message. Jai Chandi Maa! sadhvi
