here is another thought. it is related to the conditions of our life.

if we are really, really strong, MAYBE we could remain clear and calm

under circumstances like overwork, not enough sleep, etc. but what if

we are not there yet?

i've noticed i can build my meditation and devotion a lot better if i

take care of that body temple.

we can back up and take a look at our entire temple. are we providing

conditions for its best use for puja, or did we put it in the middle

of the market place?

all this has no one answer, but is a way of thinking that can

facilitate sattva in our experience. we need to build foundational

support for sattva, or our efforts will be undermined or

counter-acted.

a little deeper, we get to that place where the mind is so strong

whatever happens doesn't matter. it helps to be realistic and assess

our own limitations in order to covercome them.

god gave us this nuclear power plant, the mind. we use it or abuse it.

it can be used to support sadhana by using common sense.

last thing is patience. sometimes the conditions don't change to what

we need right away. we need to hold on and build up over time. many

years can pass and it seems hopeless. then, as absurd as it seems, it

is important to stay alive, because the time will come when good

changes appear.
