Just take a really humble position when you go to do the yagya. Maybe

you could explain to the people there that you're not a pundit, but

only a student of Swami Ji, and whatever you have learned or continue

to learn about doing the yagya is from your respected teacher, and you

will do your best to do the yagya as Swami Ji has taught it to you.

This will take the pressure off of you, and you won't feel nervous.

You might take a picture of Maa and Swami along with you and set them

up next to your seat at the fire. Make a prayer to them to help you

before you start. Sometimes it helps to verbally mention appreciation

to the people, culture and tradition of India for giving us this

knowledge. All this will get the ego out of the spotlight, and help

you feel more relaxed.

I fully appreciate your views. Just waiting to hear from some more and Swamiji as well.

But believe me, I get cold feet thinking of the crowd that will be there watching me.

Jai Maa. Blessings!

Jay,

Before you sit to do the Homa, offer your heart and mind to Chandi Maa.

It does not matter how good we pronounce, how proper we are seated or how

we are perceived by those who witness our communion.

It only matters how much devotion we have in our heart and how much desire

we have to achieve inner peace.

This is a tremendous opportunity for you, because all your fear, self

doubt and trepidation represent an army of asuras who you can perceive

because of this situation. The situation makes it possible for you to

truly experience the power of these asuras. You can see how they affect

your mind, how they attempt to coerse your actions and cause your failure,

thus feeding the cycle that keeps the asuras alive.

Because they are so easy to see and because they are so obviously

unhealthy, it is much easier to offer them up to Chandi Maa. Every time

you have a thought or feeling that is in opposition to your devotion, look

at it and ask Chandi Maa to cut off its head with one of her wonderous

weapons.

In this universe we can find peace the fastest by experiencing chaos,

conflict and confusion and using those energies to increase our devotion

and desire for peace.

Every time you feel not-at-peace, offer up that non-peace to Maa and use

that non-peace to power your devotion to She Who Tears Apart Thought.

In that way, the more asuras you have, the quicker you can achieve peace.

This is the duality of attainment. Its described in the story about the

asuras and the gods using a snake and a mountain (Vishnu) to churn the

ocean of consciousness to yield great treasures. The treasures of course

are god like qualities for your mind, the gods are healthy mental

qualities, and the asuras are unhealthy mental qualities. It takes both

the healthy and unhealthy to create the god like treasures.

Chandi Maa Ki Jai!
