Guest guest
> How much sadhana should a devotee do? Maa and Swami teach that if you want to be Divine, then the goal and path is to get up to 8 hours a day sadhana, 8 hours a day seva and 8 hours a day to take care of some rest, get some wood and water and make kitcheri. God gave us 24 hours in a day. Oh, and by the way, you have to actually sit down in an asan and do the sadhana Only a very small handful of people on Earth were born otherwise. --- that means regular, disciplined spiritual practice -- just like the King and the Businessman set out to do in the Chandi. To see everything as sadhana is a lofty state indeed. My work is sadhana, my family is sadhan, etc etc. That is a perception of a Rishi. Takes sadhana to get there. Takes sadhana to stay there. Rishis can fall. All those Advaitist luminaries all did LOTS and LOTs of sadhana. Intense sadhana. Not just a little twice day so you can sleep better and have more success in the world with some increased energy and mental clarity, or once in a while, or "it's all sadhana and I am That". That's just ego and intellectual poof, and business. You'll get out of it what you put into it. That's the kripa. If we want we can follow the examples of the Knowers and Teachers of reality. If that's your goal, God will let you know who they are when you meet them. You'll just fall in Love. Try not to roll your own or improvise so much. Do as much as you can to be just like them and you will move into the same paradigm and experience and live together with them in Love together. That's what they did. That's what they and their gurus taught them. That's what they are doing. Yes, as many people so many paths. Remember the Ego is tricky though. I've had way more luck, fun and support of Nature when I pay attention and try to follow and serve the Guru. And plenty of freedom too. On my own I usually get smacked around and feel a prisoner to circumstances and the false expectations of others. No need for Commander Ego to reinvent the wheel. It's usually a bumpy and solitary ride that way anyway. At least that's been my experience. Choice is yours. Depends on your goals. Do you want to be a devotee or a become a disciple? A devotee rolls their own a little and it can be bumpy. A disciple becomes their Beloved. Yam, Niyam, Asan, Pranyama ... just the other day again Swami demonstrated and spoke about this Make a goal. Make a discipline. Reduce the necessity to engage in the world. There's always food and shelter for a sincere sadhu who is striving to become Divine. Not much is needed. Some Faith and Humilty are definately necessary. How to have Faith? Just have it. Don't doubt. Humility? She'll cut off your head and give you Humility right away and quick. With a sword or an axe or one of Her Weapons. One way or the other your head is coming off. Count on it. And don't put it back on! She's just going to cut it off again! You can have Faith in that for sure! My goal, and plan and path: One family living and striving earnestly together to live the highest ideals of perfection. 100% supporting Maa and Swami and each other without selfish attachment. Full of bliss and pure love and wisdom and all thinking and living what more can we do and give and what a fun and joyful and wonderful privilege it is to live and manifest divinity as one family and share it with others. Eager and dedicated to organizing ourselves to be living 8 hours sadhana, 8 hours seva and 8 hours personal asap. Learning, teaching, doing puja for oneself, doing puja for others, receiving what's offered with love, giving as much we can. Safeguarding and nourishing the bhava with a satsang that is all on this same page and excited and eager and inspired to keep at it. How to manifest these goals? Follow and trust Maa and Swami' s lead Support and respect each others efforts towards our common goal Do the sadhana See the job do the job Sing and dance and celebrate life! Make it a mansion of mirth! Regular group chanting with Swami or Maa (or all follow a recording of them) Regular homa More classes with Swami More sadhana together More seva/projects/work together Disciplined routine (group and personal) Love, Devanath so, Yam, Niyam, Asan, Pranayam .... Vraja asan, 1 mala a day. Make it 2. Everyday. It takes only a minute, or two. Don't force the knees down. Don't think oh I am too old or I am too stiff or I only have one leg. Approach it as you can. Gravity and Grance will do the work. Chant with regular pranyam with the root mantra of the text or your mantra of initiation on the in-breath and the verses on the out-breath. This works. Satyam Satyam. Instructions for this are in the FAQs here or on the Devi Mandir website. Jai Maa!!!
