Guru Gita verse 132 - tiny question for Nanda/Chris/Kalia

Dear friends,

The penny has finally dropped: I understand my question stemmed from a

confusion of terms (shudda vidya being one of the tattva's, right?). I

believe I forgot to thank you, Chrisji, for pointing that out, so:

thank you. But I still don't fully understand the meaning of 'tattva';

it is translated as 'principle', but what does that mean? A mold or

pattern? A state of consciousness? A frequency of vibration? Could any

of you please direct me to where this is explained further?

with love,

Henny

Dear Henny,

Om Namah Shivayah!

In "Tattwa Jnana", Beloved Swamiji explains "Tattwa"

Tat = That

Twam = you

"Tattwas are the principles that are you. These principles are the

road maps to the understanding of who we are".

Jai Maa! Jai Swamiji!

with love and prayers

Henny,

I don't really understand the tattwas myself, but as I understand, all

of those you mention are true. The tattwas represent the descent of

consciousness from the subtle to the gross, produced through the

interactions of the gunas. They are milestones on the ascent to pure

consciousness, representing distinct states of awareness and ability.

Jai Maa!

Dear Srini,

thank you very much for your response. It is very helpful, because it

makes me realize the tattvas are not something 'out there' and

abstract, but aspects of my true being, both actual and potential.

Tat tvam asi. The way Swamiji explains these things is wonderful,

because once you've heard it, you don't forget and you discover

deeper meanings as you come to understand more.

Chrisji,

thanks for your input. With your and Srini's help, I've come closer

to an understanding that the tattwas are not something we can fully

understand 'objectively'. They are to be realized through experience.
