Can some of the senior devotees share any instruction they have received? I have been told that wool is a good material. Must it be a thick wool blanket or could it be a white wool pachoda for instance, if used only for an asan? The lighter asan is better for travel, but a thicker blanket provides more comfort and indeed can hold more energy. If I may jump ahead, the next several verses are related and deal with color and directions to face when practicing. I have a lingering question regarding the qualities that may be enhanced by the various colors and directions faced...would you ask the following of Swamiji? "If one has a real need for support in more than one area, should the disciple rotate through colors of asan and directions faced or is there some other instruction? I recollect discussion of this in the past but remember not being totally sated. Thank you Swamiji for your overwhelming generosity." Lastly Kalia, for our discussion, I was drawn to a think wool blanket last year, it is charcoal gray with some red and green trim strips. I had thought to place it under my white asan for both comfort and because it is more substantial in terms of holding energy, but have hesitated for some time because I was unclear of the potential effects of the colors. Thank you. OM, Sherri
Guest guest
Dear Kalia, the verses about the seat are beyond my understanding. I am eager to learn what merit there is in sitting on a dead animal's skin. Is the animal symbolic of certain attributes like swiftness or courage? with love, Henny , Kali Kali <kaliananda_saraswati> wrote: > Dear friends, > > The instructions on the seat continues - > > "By reciting while sitting upon a black deer skin brings the attainment of wisdom, and upon a tiger skin, self-realization. Guest guest
Thanks for your response. I really cannot say much on the asan because I do not know. It will be interesting to hear if others have anything to say on the colours in your blanket but for me, I would want to be sure before using it as part of the asan. I will forward your questions (including checking on the coloured blanket) for Swamiji's response.
