I suppose the questions could get in the way of the goal, but there is a long and ancient tradition, both east and west, of devotees and students asking questions of the guru or teacher. And I will never forget Swamiji's answer to my question when I saw them at Issaqua. He did not tell me my question was silly, but his answer was like a lion's roar, all said with a loving, delightful smile. Swamiji was talking about how to maintain peace of mind, and I asked him, "What do I do when my peace of mind has already become disturbed," thinking perhaps he would give me a tool of some kind I could use. Instead he looked at me with eyes blazing and said, "Nothing is worth giving up your peace of mind." Sometimes we must ask questions of one another because we are our own satsang here on the digest. Sometimes we are so very lucky because our questions get relayed to Swamiji and he answers, always, just as simply, succinctly and brilliantly as he answered my question.
