Guest guest
Dear All, Here's todays verse - 144. It is the process of accomplishing imperfect effects, removing the fear of the nine planets, destroying bad dreams, and granting the fruit of good dreams. Comment: :Guru is the cause of all causes." Guest guest
Dear Kalia, I don't understand 'the process of accomplishing imperfect effects'. What does that mean? Are effects by definition imperfect because they are partial manifestations of the source but not the source Itself? Does it mean that, as we go through life, we are in the process of transformation and on the path to perfection, and progress by 'accomplishing imperfect effects' (which progress is the Guru's grace)? The bad dreams/good dreams appear to refer to our desires; what do we dream about, what do we want to accomplish? What is in our minds? The fear of the nine planets is also puzzling: does it refer to certain cosmic influences in our lives, which are neutralized by taking refuge in the Guru who controls cosmic influences? questions, questions....I'll just have to meditate more on this (or perhaps someone could point me in the right direction?), with love, Henny , Kali Kali <kaliananda_saraswati> wrote: > > Dear All, > > > > Here's todays verse - > > > > 144. Guest guest
Henny, For whatever it's worth, I think you've hit the nail right on the head. I think the `imperfect effects` reference refers to what follows, which are activities dealing with samsara, as opposed to activities leading to moksha. To people who are greatly oppressed by life, in mental turmoil over the events of their lives, bad dreams and fear of what their karmas might bring next are of great concern. Perhaps too, bad dreams may on occasion signal the onset of a new, and oppressive karmic influence (ever had that experience?). Of course, abiding in the protection of the guru, one is freed from fears and attachments and experiences only good dreams (yes, the guru does alter the influence of the planets as they express our karmas). Guest guest
So nice to hear from you. Dream is a another state of consciousness. Bad dreams could be the effects of worldiness in our lives.
