No, can't say that I have :)

Henny,

This is really a question better answered by a jyotish astrologer. My

one foray into that study went absolutely nowhere (I still don't know

why).

Any way, you know about praarabdha karma, analogous to an arrow shot

from a bow, before it lands? It includes those karmas from many past

lives. Some are in seed form, while others are preparing to manifest

(land), in the near and distant future. Some have said that this is

the immense storehouse of the unconscious. In it are all of the

tendencies we will express and experience, both causal (how the

universe responds to us) and subtle (our personal tendencies).

When one is born the planetary configuration is a reflection of our

praarabdha karmas. Some influences are strong, some are weak, and some

are neutral. It is a way our karmas are expressed through time. For a

while we may find name and fame, then one day, we lose everything, and

nothing seems to stay with us despite our best efforts.

The time of death is there as well.

When we make the decision to fulfill the purpose of our life and for

that purpose surrender to the guru, it is said that the guru takes

some of our karma and burns it quickly in her own body so that we will

have the freedom and ability to do effective sadhana. It is also said

that the guru is able to modify the fruition of karma (when the arrows

will land) so that we do not experience some karmas when they would

have come, and experience others sooner than we would have.

As I see it, the purpose of this maya is pure enjoyment for the

enlightened. For the unenlightened, its one purpose is to teach us to

seek enlightenment. When we begin to tread that path, it becomes the

gurudeva's duty to teach us what we need. The authority of the

gurudeva is above that of the planetary devas.

Jai Maa!
