Dear All,

Swamiji led us in a group homa this evening at the Mandir.

Among the devotees, were a little boy and a girl - siblings, and

looked about 5 and 4 years old respectively. True to their innocence,

they played with the masala, and the boy tugged at his sister's hair,

made faces etc. His father's glare caused the children to subside for

a moment before they were back at their enjoyable antics.

Swamiji at that time was chanting a Saraswati mantra "Om Sam

Saraswatyai Swaha" . At the end of one mala, he beckoned to the little

boy and invited him to sit next to Him. Separated from her brother,

the little girl took to joyously offering the masala to the flames and

the little boy , looking a bit lost, kept sneaking a peek at Swamiji,

at the mala in his hand, at the fire etc.

Swamiji said (and I paraphrase), "Lets do another mala to Saraswati ,

since Stu (the lil boy) wasnt paying attention the first time" and

chanted "Om Aim Shrim Klim Saraswatyai Swaha". Swamiji equally divided

his time looking at the little boy, then over to his little sister,

then at the fire and then at all of us. He was smiling widely and we

were all enjoying the little scene.

At the end of the mala, he called out to another little girl seated

further away and asked her to come close so that he could bless her

with Saraswati's blessings. That little girl looked bemused and didnt

go towards Swamiji.

Swamiji said, without wasting time,"You snooze, you lose" and put his

hands over little Stu and gave him abundant blessings of Saraswati.

Swamiji said, "When blessings are offered, be quick and sure to take

them" .

Maybe thats why Swamiji advises us to be ready with the boon that we

want from the Goddess in the Chapter 13 of the Chandi.

So that She doesnt take off while we are still thinking what we want

and what to do.

When blessings are offered, especially from saints like Maa and

Swamiji, lets be quick and sure to take them.
