Guest guest
OM NAMAH SIVAYA i wanted to share the following story. i can't seem to recall who i heard it from but it was a good story. there once was a herd of baby goats grazing at the bottom of a tall mountain. one baby goat spotted at the top of the mountain some grape vines, (which i guess is a favorite food of goats.) he told the other goats about his finding and said he was going to climb the mountain to get the grapes. though everyone wanted the grapes, many of the other goats said there was no way one could climb that tall mountain. yet many of the goats set out for the mountain top. as they climbed many grew tired and decided that the mountain was just too tall. they called out, "there is no way anyone can reach the top so why even try. it is a waste of time." one by one the goats became discouraged and gave up. calling to the other goats they would say, "you will never make it, it is impossible." soon all the baby goats quit climbing deciding that the mountain was just too tall to reach the top. except for one of the baby goats. he just kept climbing. soon he reached the top and feasted on the grapes. when he returned to the bottom of the mountain the goats asked him, "how did you make it to the top?" the baby goat did not answer. so they asked him again. again he didn't answer. they said, "hey i asked you a question. why are you ignoring us?" from the back of the crowd came the baby goats mother. she said proudly, "it was my son who climbed all the way to the top." they said, "your son won't answer us." she responded, "he's deaf." when we set our sights on a goal we must not listen to the nay sayers and those who say it's not possible. and keep climbing. Guest guest
That very goat came here to the Devi Mandir last Summer right around this time. He was at the gate and Nandu and I went down to let him in at Maa's request. He showed up the first day of the Summer Navaratri and went to Maa's house for a blessing before establishing his asan in front of the entrance to the old temple -- he never once got up from there until the end of Navaratri. It was quite something. Jai Maa!!!
Guest guest
WOW! i've got chills! With Eric's first Goat story, and then Devanath's perfect example of someone staying focused on the goal with one-pointed determination punchline...What an incredible teaching story! Thank-you from the bottom to the top of my overflowing heart!
