Dear All,

I am filling in for Kalia for the next coupla days - due to

hurricane warning, the entire island of Barbados does not have

electricity.

Here is sending a prayer for the safety of our beloved Kalia

and the people of Barbados.

Verse 175 says : By means of recitation one attains to victory,

one attains to infinite fruits. Renounce all confusing actions

and all depressing places.

Wow ! Now that's piece of a practical advice - renounce all

confusing actions and all depressing places.

isn't that a great verse nanda?

it is finally sinking in -- it is hard to put in a lot of sadhana time

if my life is a disorganized mess!

confusing actions could be both my own confusing actions, or even

others.

for myself, confusing actions would be useless acts, or, acts that

conflict with my belief in spiritual principles.

align the personal life with the higher awareness.

depressing places are places where people sit around without purpose,

only serving their immediate impulses. any place like that within my

own heart is also a depressing place i recounce.

Nanda,

I do hope Kalia wil be OK.

This verse contrasts the riches to be attained from spiritual

attainment, especially with regard to the Guru Gita, against all of

the things of the samsara that create confusion and depression within.

Confusion and depression are inner states created by selfish

attachment, or desire. Confusion results from desire and attachment,

and depression from the inability to attain the objects of desire. Any

activity, whether internal or external, that creates or perpetuates

desire and attachment is a confusing one. Any place that perpetuates

these things without satisfaction creates depression.

Anyone embarked on the path of light must learn to discriminate

between that which, as Swamiji says, furthers progress toward their

goal, and that which does not. This verse tells us to renounce those

that do not.

Depression and confusion reside only in the mind. Please help me, Dear

Mother, to find it within me to renounce all attachment to confusing

actions and depressing places.

This is nice steve. Even those thought that keep bombarding us can

bee seen as place of confusion.

Swamiji says Durga rids us of the durgam. See how the universe helps

us when we are opened to receive, this verse comes today on Ashtami

when were are told by dear Nanda that part of today's menu we can

chant any mantra for Durga (Navaratri Ashtami).
