Kalia,

I think what Kanda said is true. That which we hold most precious is

not lightly shared.

Jai Maa!

Also in addition to being so lucky to be getting this knowledge, I

think we must have aquired some merit, that allows the knowledge to

be made available to us. Mother would keep us from this knowledge

until we are ready to recieve it. As we continue to become more and

more pure, we will be able to recieve these teachings more and more.

i have learned from swamiji not to speak of such things, and have kept

to that as much as possible. it is difficult to put into words "why."

i go on faith on this. i said, is it because the yogi knows everything

is vanity, and he said yes. to paraphrase.

My belief is that the reason we shouldn't share such things is two-fold.

The least important reason, generally, is that special experiences may

contribute to the creation of envy and/or feelings of worthlessness in

other disciples, who wonder why they haven't had such an experience,

or may decide the experience is fabricated or imaginary. This applies

especially, I think, to initiations and special blessings from the

gurudeva.

The most important reason, I think, is that when we share it is often

because ego is involved, and when ego is successful in fully attaching

itself to a sacred experience, all the divinity goes from it.

I believe it is good to remain open to sharing these things when it

seems good to do so, to share a bhaava, or a particular insight, at a

particular time, with a particular person or group of people. But one

must carefully examine the motivation behind the sharing, and if there

is any sense that the sharing is attached to feelings or thoughts of

status, the desire to be perceived a certain way, any kind of feeling

of "I'm special", then it should not be shared at that time.

On the other hand, if the sharing feels like giving a blessing, or

sharing joy, or sharing something very special with someone you love,

and you don't feel it will create negative feelings in the others,

then why withhold?

I have, from time to time, shared what felt to me like very precious

experiences and realizations. Perhaps I was wrong to do so, but I

always felt blessed that I had something beautiful to give (of course,

I admit to keeping some too...).

Jai Maa!
