Hi! Well, I did my homa, and enjoyed it very much.

I had never used a combination of wet and dry ingredients for the

offering before, esp. sugar, so it was a bit of a surprise when I

stuck my hand in the bowl and half the mixture came out with it. It

was REALLY sticky. I had to use my ghee spoon to offer, which was fine.

The other thing was, that I had never chanted from a book in front of

the fire before, and it kept getting so hot I could hardly hold on to it.

Still, it was great. It was a beautiful end to a wonderful sankalpa. I

hung-out with Agni Deva for a while afterward, until He had to go...

It was a beautiful night.

Jai Maa!

Jai Chris ji!

Sounds like a very enchanted evening! i can feel the warmth, and hear

the flickering flames devouring your sweet devotional offering. What a

very wonderful closure to an extra special Sankalpa! Jai Maa!

Your sister smiling at you from within the Divine Flames,

Chrisji,

you are an inspiration! It must have been quite an evening. The whole

idea of doing a homa is still very much beyond my range of sadhana

expertise:). Did you do that in your garden? did you dig a hole for

the fire or build something or did you use the barbecue? It must have

been quite a big fire since your book got so hot. I hope some day I'll

be able to experience what an actual homa is like, but I can't see

myself doing one on my balcony just now. Anyway, good to hear all went

well,

with love,

Henny

No, I didn't dig a hole. I don't do homa often enough yet, and Swamiji

has said any kind of fire pit is good enough (though a "regulation"

kunda is best). I used a commercial portable fire-pit made of enamled

steel about two and a half feet in diameter (less than a meter), and

yes, I did it in my garden, actually on my patio.

I'm not very good at it; it takes me a long time to set-up and a long

time to perform the mantras, but the Devas seem to be compassionate

and put up with me anyway.

thank you for putting up with my insatiable curiosity and answering my
