Guest guest
Greetings new friends, I am Melissa a new member. I am not sure whether I belong here or not, but I found this group from a website I was very interested in. I am on a spiritual journey that has led me here. A little about me: I am a 4th generation Canadian born and raised in Toronto, Ontario to a family of atheist/agnostics. Never went to church my entire life. After the birth of my first child a son was born in 1992 I was 27 years old, I started to search spiritually. I became a born again Christian attending a PAOC church. In 1994 my daughter was born In 1995 I left Toronto and my children's father and moved to South west Ontario for various reasons. In 1996 I walked away from my journey as I became a "religious" (not spiritual) intolerant selfish woman. I experienced yet another failed marriage and had started to attend a Roman Catholic Church, which i was ex-communicated from due to my marriage and divorce. In 2003 after wandering this earth in a low spiritual condition for many years had revelation -an epiphany if you will. My fraternal twin boys were born on Oct. 8 2003 and one of them was not alive, he was resuscitated and put on life support. I knew when that happened and he survived with a severe brain injury that my Creator was indeed by my side. My son now lives with a gtube in his stomach, cerebral palsy and many other health issues. The other twin is developing typically. They are now 21 months old. I have attended 12 step meetings for over 18 years and that path has led me to the journey that i am presently on. I am a developmental social worker, and nurse. I am very much involved in service to my community and families with special needs children (service coordination). I believe that by faith, concept and philosophy I am a Hindu. I know this is where I belong. However i am a Caucasian lone parent by choice living in a rural area where there is much intolerance and ignorance of such spiritual journeys. I am not close to an urban temple or people from the Hindu faith so that i may learn and grow. I thought perhaps this would be a starting point? Any and all ideas, would be greatly appreciated. Guest guest
Wow, Melissa, that's quite a time you've had. May God's blessings always be with you. You are very welcome here. Many of us do not have a satsanga that we belong to, but find the joy of the fellowship of truth here, online. It is a great blessing, and the blessings of Shree Maa and Swami Satyananda flow through this satsanga. Don't be afraid to post and ask questions if you have them. Jai Maa! Guest guest
OM NAMAH SIVAYA Chris, what you said is so cool.. "Find the Joy of Fellowship of Truth Here." this could be the mantra for this satsang or for Maa and Swamiji if they ever do a tour again. they could chant it before the programs.
