Dear All,

One of the things I like to do to jazz up my practice is to memorize

shlokas - for example the 32 names of Durga or Siddha Kunjika Stotram

etc. Indeed Maa even encourages us to do so. She has been known to

give us weekly assignments and then follow up by testing her students

the next weekend.

I remember a particularly endearing moment when Maa had asked to

memorize the Arati song from the Chandi.

It was this devotee's turn and he went up to Maa to sing the Arati. He

told Maa (and I paraphrase) -"I remember the song, only dont fully

remember the order of the stanzas. If you give me the start of each

verse I can complete the song".

And Maa said in her sweet sweet voice, "It doesnt matter-just sing

what you know. I dont think Chandi will mind if you get the order

differently".

Anyways, ....

Something I always have trouble with , is trying to memorize the mantras of the 9 planets.

I was wondering if people could share a way to memorize them.

A friend shared a technique for remembering the mantra for Budha ie Mercury.

It is

Om Aim Striim Shriim Budhaaya Namah.

She remembered the first letters of the beejas - A-S-S () . Made it easy to remember .

Aside from Budha and maybe Surya (Om Hriim Hriim Suryaya Namah), I

find it difficult to remember the 9-planet mantras.

If anyone(Srini?Ramya?Anyone? ) knows an interesting way to remember

the beejas I would love to hear from you.

Dear Nanda,

Om Namah Shivayah!

Only thing I can think of is repeated practice. Sorry - I dont know

any shortcut.

The other thing might be to chant, Ya Devi Sarva Bhuteshu, Smriti

Rupena Samshtithah.

Sorry I dint write earlier, but just wanted to mention that I

completed my Guru Purnima Sankalpa.

with love and prayers

srini

OM NAMAH SIVAYA

not that this is anything profound but i have always found that i

remember things simply through repetition and writing. i have

always used these for everything exams, chanting, music, etc. for

me the tricks are as hard to remember as what they are used for.
