ON A QUESTION ABOUT HOW TO BALANCE ART WITH SPIRITUAL PRACTICES, AND

WHETHER OR NOT TO GIVE UP ARTMAKING TO FOCUS MORE ON SPIRITUAL

PRACTICES:"Your art is also a spiritual practice. Make it a puja, an

offering to God, and you will accomplish both objectives (artmaking

and spiritual practice).""It (artwork) is the major part (of your

spiritual practices). Do not neglect the other parts (like service,

pranayama, and meditation), but spend time here as well."

Dear e_mars ~ I am sitting here at my computer dumbfounded. This is a

question that has plagued me quite a bit recently, even though I have

always considered art to be spiritual and making art to be a spiritual

practice. To hear Swami say this is like Him placing a lotus blossom

on my heart. I have had so much trouble doing any art lately, really

doing much of anything because of a chronic illness I have. But this

inspires me to complete some art I was working on and to continue,

and, as Swami says to make it a puja and an offering to God/dess. Oh

my goodness; I don't even know what to say. Thank you Swami.

Blessings ~ Linda
