Guest guest
Hi all, I just finished reading through the Beginners Shiva Puja guide here on the mailing list (excellent job BTW, Nanda!) Everything makes sense so far, except for one thing. I do not have the Beginners Shiva Puja CD and I want to avoid buying it since I can pronounce Sanskrit well enough to chant what is in the book, and I am on a tight budget now. Basically I am trying to figure out how to do the Arati without the music, since I have no idea how to sing the song in the book, whether it was written by Shree Maa and Swamiji or is available elsewhere, and whether I can use different songs for arati or if I'm better off trying to make up a melody or just ring the bell without music. Sadly that doesn't sound as fun, but I'm reluctant to buy the CD just for one song. Thanks again Nanda for your excellent tutorial. Zach. Guest guest
Hi Zach, Glad you benefitted from that little tutorial. Re Arati - well I have news for ya. You can do arati with almost ANY devotional song. Get any tape that you have and play it in the background while you do the Arati. You can even sing along and dance while you are at it. Another option would be to try to fit in "Om Namah Shivaya" to any well known tune and keep repeating that over and over. If this is not an easy option for you then play that tape of any devotional song and away you go ... JAI SHIVA !!!!!!! May Shiva Bless you Zach with pure love for HIM Nanda , "sporkubus" <sporkubus@g...> wrote: > Hi all, > > I just finished reading through the Beginners Shiva Puja guide here on > the mailing list (excellent job BTW, Nanda!) Guest guest
Dear Zach, Om Namah Shivayah! This might work (it used to about 5 years ago). Go to www.musicindiaonline.org Search for aarti in the search box. Check and click on Jai Jagadeesh Hare. The tune for the Lord Siva's Aaarti and Chandi Maa's aarati are the same. I am pretty sure there are other web sites that carry the Jai Jagadeesh Aarti. Please let me know if it worked. My current computer does not play music. with love and paryers srinivasan , "sporkubus" <sporkubus@g...> wrote: > Hi all, > > I just finished reading through the Beginners Shiva Puja guide here on > the mailing list (excellent job BTW, Nanda!) Guest guest
this doesn't seem to be a working link now. ammasmkd wrote: >Dear Zach, > >Om Namah Shivayah! > >This might work (it used to about 5 years ago). >Go to www.musicindiaonline.org > >Search for aarti in the search box. >Check and click on Jai Jagadeesh Hare. > >The tune for the Lord Siva's Aaarti and Chandi Maa's aarati are the >same. > >I am pretty sure there are other web sites that carry the Jai >Jagadeesh Aarti. > >Please let me know if it worked.
