Guest guest
Day 6 purification of the maala. Starting on page 18-19 of the Advanced Shiva Puja class we are going to offer a prayer for the purification of our maala. The mantra starts with: om maam maale mahaamaaye ....... End with om aksha maalaa dhipataye ..........(page 19) Part of the prayer says.....”give to me the attainment of your perfection, fulfilling the four objectives of life.” The four objectives of life are dharma, kama, artha, and moksha. Dharma means to manifest an ideal. Artha is the amount of material necessary to reach that ideal. Kama is the perfection of all desires so you desire nothing but the ideal of perfection. When these three have been completed then moksha is attained, self realization or liberation. This maala that is going to give us the attainment of perfection with the fullfllment of the four objectives. Homework: Please read through these mantras for the purification of the maala and read the English as well. Remember that we hold the rosary or maala in our right hand and if we are doing a homa we hold it in our left hand. Hope your Shiva puja is becoming more enhanced. Also remember that if you are doing the beginner Durga puja you can follow this outline as well to enhance your Durga puja except you will recite Durga's dhyaanam, gayatri, and bija mantras. Om namah shivaaya! Om hriim shriim dum durgaayai namah!
Guest guest
Namaste Parvati and all, I have some questions - why rudraksha ? Is there a special reason why we offer Rudraksha to the deities as part of our offerings. What is the significance to wearing Rudraksha and being gifted Rudraksha by Maa and Swamiji ? JAI SHIVA Nanda

Guest guest
Namaste Parvatiji, one question: are you supposed to actually take up your mala and hold it in your right hand when you start reciting these mantra's? And when you have finished reciting, what do you do with the mala? with love, Henny , sara swati <parv108> wrote: > Day 6 purification of the maala. > > Starting on page 18-19 of the Advanced Shiva Puja > class we are going to offer a prayer for the > purification of our maala. > > The mantra starts with: om maam maale mahaamaaye > ...... > > End with om aksha maalaa dhipataye ..........(page 19) > > Part of the prayer says....."give to me the attainment > of your perfection, fulfilling the four objectives of > life." > > The four objectives of life are dharma, kama, artha, > and moksha. > > Dharma means to manifest an ideal. > Artha is the amount of material necessary to reach > that ideal. > Kama is the perfection of all desires so you desire > nothing but the ideal of perfection. Guest guest
Om Namah Sivaya, Dear Beloved Beautiful Family, Prostrations to Maa and Swamiji and my humble pranaams to all of you. Jai MAA! Thanks sooooo very much Parvati for this wonderful class! You are so kind to go through everything with us soooo systematically and patiently - and to answer all our questions! Thanks so very much also to all of you for all your participation - you are sharing so much knowledge and inspiration - Thank you! thank you! Thank you! Even though i read the kushandika every time to chant any scripture - i never really thought about the meaning of this verse -- Till Parvati gave us the home-work! :) The mantras in this homework were so special and beautiful - We pray to our rosary to help us! Why? Because our rosary holds all energy within it as its intrinsic nature -- How is this possible? I thought it is because of the power of the mantras that we say holding the rosary. What do all of you think? By saying the mantras with love and concentration - we become one with the Divine Mantras. That helps us to manifest this divinity in all our actions, thoughts and words -- we can attain our ideal of perfection (dharma). To attain this we gather adequate resources (artha), invite only desires that help us attain our ideal (kama) and acheive moksha (liberation). Isn't it interesting that we are praying to our mala here to give us perfection? Feels like we can use every opportunity to pray to any instrument and being to help come close to our beautiful Divine Mother!! With prayers to Her to help all Her children come soon to Her and rest at Her Divine Feet! Jai MAA! Jai Swamiji! Henny - i wear the mala around my neck, so i just take it out and hold it for the duration of these three verses and then put it back. I have seen other people, who have malas in bags, take them out and hold them and then put the malas back in the bag. Whatever is most comfortable for you! Thank you! Om Namah Sivaya!
