Guest guest
thank you for reminding us of the importance and energy of prayer. Brother Lawrence(Practice of the Presence of God)shares with us how he prayed with God. "We must behave very simply with God, and speak frankly to Him, asking Him for help in things as they happen." It had been his experience that God does not fail to give His help. One day he had been told by his superiors to go to purchase wine in Burgundy. this was a task that was very painful and difficult for him, owing to his lack of skill in business and the fact that he was crippled in one leg and could not walk on the boat except by rolling himself on the winecasks. His thought of his condition did not trouble him. He prayed to God that it was His business, after which he found that not only was he able to complete his task, but it was done well. Brother Lawrence found the fixed time of prayer in his monastic day was no different from other times. Even his busiest work did not turn him away from God. and He tells us further; At the beginning, we must apply ourselves to forming the inner habit of conversing continually with God. Prayer will help us to love God in all things, and keep our conversation with God flowing. May we all have that inner dialogue.
