Guest guest
Dear all, The celebration for Lord Krishna continues! Swamiji explained that today Lord Krishna's birth is also celebrated as Gokulastami. Krishna's birth is celebrated in Mathur as Janamasthami and the next day in Gokul as Gokulastami. This is because Krishna was born in the jail from Devaki at midnight and from Yashoda the next day in Gokul. Vasudeva(Krishna's father) carried the baby Krishna across the Jamuna river to Gokul to Yashoda. Yashoda had just given birth to the Divine Mother. So the 2 babies were exchanged. It was prophesied that the 8th child of Devaki would kill the wicked King Kamsa and the King wanted to do away with this child. When the King came to take this child Devaki pleaded with him not to kill this baby girl. But the King took the baby anyway and began to throw her up in the air. Suddenly this baby transformed into the Divine Mother seated upon a lion. She told the wicked King that the 8th child of Devaki whom was predicted to kill him was long gone..... (Hare Krishna!) The celebration today is for Yashoda's birth of Krishna in Gokul. So keep on singing, dancing and feasting my friends. The light is here to stay. Hari Krishna! Hari Rama! Happy birthday Gopal! , "ty_maa" <ds.james@c...> wrote: > > thanks to all for sharing Sri Krishna satsangha today. > the music, poems, and stories are inspiring and wonderful > holy company. thank you for advising us as to what sadhana we > could perform to honor Lord Krishna. > > the Bhagavad Gita is Krishna's divine discourse to devotees. > doesn't every verse become a meditation?
