Question from Surya:Thank you for this. Since I am not well educated

on this subject (though I want to become very educated on it), I have

a follow up question to your answer. Do the "prescribed ingredients"

include how to make the Dhuni? If so, where do I find this or what

is the description? I had thought that probably only the things to

be offered were prescribed

Swamiji's response:Yes, the prescribed ingredients include not only

the items to be offered, but also the utensils by which they are

offered, as well as the temples in which they are offered. This

includes everything from the asana that we sit on and in (remember

the Guru Gita discussion), the clothing that the devotee wears, the

types of sruva, srak, chempta, the list is endless. That is why

traditionally this process was learned in the Guru Kul, living with

the family of the guru.

There is no one place where all this is written down, and it will be

an excellent subject for a series of books. But it will differ from

family to family.

I know we are not supposed to use up posts with just a simple "thank

you", but I must state out loud for at least the group to hear

(though I know you all know this already anyway) how incredibly and

continually impressed I am with Swamiji and his answers. He is an

absolute treasure of knowledge, very rare even amongst all the Indian

sadhus I have encountered--which have been more than a few. His

answers are never more verbose than they need to be and they show

such a seat of authority and great clarity.

I am very thankful for all your help Swamiji and for this group. I

stay silent often but it is a daily part of my life and a great

resource for me in my own development of wisdom and furtherment of

Bhakti.

Eternal Pranams,

Surya
