A new poll has been created for the group: Here is Surya's question - please share your thoughts "I know that both quality of the repetition and the number of repetitions is important but which is more important? Would it be more beneficial to chant one, slow, repetition with serious concentration as opposed to lets say 11 repetitions faster without the same quality of concentration?" o One slow repetition with serious concentration o 11 faster repetitions but without the same quality o Both in their own way o Neither of the above (Please explain on the group) To vote, please visit the following web page: /surveys?id=12127017 Note: Please do not reply to this message. Guest guest
i am really glad Surya asked this question. i have heard people doing mantras real fast. this seemed very strange to me because i was used to the opposite. but i find that doing them fast can also break up some tamasic elements of mind. my feeling is, if one is not going for a certain number then the speed might change over time to even very slow as one deepens. then why ever do them fast, and go for a certain count? this is our lila. especially if guru asks or does so. and because god is in all things, the mind both fast and slow. jai maa. such a good question. sometimes the "discipline" is a certain rate, etc. for example in pranayama, following certani counts. this all adds up to "i am not limited to this body ... i do not flow up and down with emotions ... so the mantra, breath, all of it is subject to control, which illuminates the jiva via the magic of discipline and distance from that which we normally attach ourselves to ... freedom, give us freedom and peace now, at all speeds, in all practices ..." steve , wrote: > > Enter your vote today!
