Guest guest
Hi, I am a silent member of this group, and an ardent worshipper of the Devi. I recently acquired the Devi Mahatmyam in CD (Times music). I love reciting it, and i know the whole thing by heart .. also, I have a text containing the entire saptashati. I've noticed that the CD does not have the entire saptashati in it .Instead, it contains : Kavacham, argala, keelakam, tantrokta ratri suktam, dhyanam, tantrokta devi suktam, beej mantra, saptashloki Durga, and Kshama Prarthana. However, I would really like to focus on and recite the whole thing. Do you have any idea where I can get the mp3's/CD? If not, then can you suggest a text where I can recite from, and any basic rules about reciting (order, number, etc.) the chandi. I would really like any help, as I am starting out on my Goddess worship using the Mahaatmyam, and so any help would be greatly appreciated. Goddess bless, Sangeeta. Guest guest
Namaste Sangeeta, It is always nice to meet a devotee of Maa. Thanks for posting. The Mandir bookstore has an MP3 CD with recitation of the entire Chandi Path. You can find it at http://www.shreemaa.org/bookstore.htm You could chant the entire Chandi or you could chant the Seedha Path which is the shortest recitation of the Chandi. Here are the chapters to the Seedha Path - you will find these chapters in the Table of Contents at the beginning of the book. (This is the book as translated by our Swamiji) The page numbers vary in different versions 1) Kushandika - Starting from the first verse in the book "sriman mahaganadhipataye namah" to a few pages and ending with the shanti mantras "om shanti shanti shanti". These are the introductory mantras to any recitation 2) Vedic Praise to the Night of Duality - RgVedoktam Ratri Suktam 3) Navarna Vidhi - The system of Worship of the Nine Lettered Mantra 4) The 13 core chapters 5) Navarna Vidhi - The system of Worship of the Nine Lettered Mantra 6) Vedic Praise to the Goddess who is Unity - RgVedoktam Devi Suktam 7) Siddha Kunjika Stotram - The Song that gives the key to perfection 8) Pranamah (the last page).-Bowing down in devotion Hope this helps! Please let me know of further questions. Jai Maa Nanda for Good Click here to donate to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort.
Guest guest
Namaste Nanda, That was really helpful, thanks. As I am from india, all those $$ prices just don't add up with the rest of my budget:( However, I suppose this will help me in going about hunting in the little puja shops here in bombay to find the right CD with the entire/shortest correct version of the Chandi. In the meanwhile, I'll just do the one I have on my CD. I wanted to know, is there a specific way of doing it? (In front of a fire, at night, moon phase, etc?) Thanks, Sangeeta. , Nanda <chandimaakijai> wrote: > Namaste Sangeeta, > It is always nice to meet a devotee of Maa.
