That's my 2 cents, but here is the science behind it - thanks to our own Brian.JAI MAANanda Namaste, Thanks Brian. A little more tech to add. It is good to have a fire wall program ( zone labs has a good free one ) that will block any incoming or outgoing that you do not want in the form of spyware or adware ( not email ), or other sources that you may have consented to in the past ; also you need some antivirus software such as McAfee, and if you suspect that email you receive is a scam ( wanting money, SS#, etc. ) forward the email without changing the email subject to the Federal Trade Commission at uce (AT) ftc (DOT) gov . With a tech background it is interesting to back track on an IP address to find out where it is coming from ( IDserve is a good one). Also from my experience the more serious ones ( money scams, identity theft attempts ) that are reported to the FTC ( Federal trade Commission ) go away. Last but not least Nanda had the right idea in using common sense ( subject line ) and intuition. Delete emails you know you did not ask for and be aware of spoofing ( using a email address that is familiar with subject/content that is not ).
