Navaratri - Oct 4th or Oct 3rd ?

Namaste Aravind,

Thank you for raising your concern about the date of the Navaratri.

 

Oct 3rd is for those of us in the Western Hemisphere (US, UK etc), it

corresponds to Oct 4th for those in the East - India etc.

 

We are going by the day Ashwin Shukla Paksha starts at our locality as

determined by the local panchang. Since the Devi Mandir is based out of

California, the panchang for the San Francisco indicates that the

Mahalaya amavasya was on Oct 2nd. The first day of Navaratri started on

Oct 3rd.

 

I hope this helped clarify your confusion.
