I too am sorry to hear about your own long illness. What I have is called Neuroendocrine Immune Disorder. This is a fancy name that the National Institutes of Health here in the US came up with as a kind of umbrella for a complex of illnesses and syndromes. They did it because, for most people, if they have one, they usually have several. Of the ten under the umbrella, I have six. The worst is Fibromyalgia, which brings chronic pain. For a long time I thought my pain was the result of an accident where I was hit by a drunk driver. I was treated for two years, and then the doctor said he couldn't do anything more for me. I went to neurologists, and they kept saying, there's no nerve involvement, there's no nerve involvement. (Actually, I have a funny picture of these men jumping up and down like little puppets, shouting their no nerve involvement "mantra.") Yet still I had the pain, and it kept getting worse, until, eventually I was no longer able to work. There wasn't much known about Fibromyalgia when I first started to go through all this, and many doctors didn't think it was even disease. So it was only 4 years ago, after 20 years of living in pain, being on meds, with my abilities becoming more and more limited, that I received an actual diagnosis. Unfortunately, because this is such a newly recognized disease, with multiple triggers, there has been very little research., and so not much in the way of treatment, except to medicate. I have tried Oriental Medicine, Accupuncture, Supplements, all of which did not help me. There is an ayurvedic doctor in Albuquerque, Dr Vasant Lad, and if I can get someone to, at some point, drive me there, I will go see him and find out if he can help me. I am interested in what you said about asking Swamiji and Shree Maa for help. How does one go about asking a Holy Person for help with something like an illness? And isn't it wonderful, that we have this internet, cyber satsang, that allows someone in Bangalore to "converse" with someone in New Mexico? Again, my sincere thanks ~ Linda
