As Divali approaches (November 1st this year), I am

contemplating my sadhana for this Feast of Lights.

I'm drawn to the deity Kubera, Treasurer of the Devas,

best friend of Mahadeva Shiva, and companion to

Lakshmi during the Chaturmasi (four months) from

Monsoon season through Divali, when Vishnu is asleep.

Some call him Lakshmi's brother, others say he's her

ex-husband who still helps her during the period of

the year that she is without Vishnu.

Kubera is especially fond of gemstones, his mongoose

spits up precious gems. Lakshmi is fond of flowers

and dried fruits, which are exchanged on this holiday.

I am learning to use precious and semi-precious

stones for healing, which sounds like Kubera and

Lakshmi's bailywick.

There is a Lakshmi-Kubera Puja that is traditionally

practised during Divali. Could Shree Maa and Swamiji

give us some hints on how to attune to Kubera and

Lakshmi during this upcoming festival?
