Guest guest
The word yajna has many meanings. It can mean the traditional fire ceremony, or any selfless act or sacrifice offered to God. Scripture lists five different forms of yajna. We are expected to perform selfless acts and sacrifices to everything from God in the highest form to the lower forms of life. In short we must be willing to love, cherish and perform yajna in every aspect of our life. Just as we have spiritual sankalpas for prayer, is there something that is said when one is performing selfless acts in ones daily routine? Swamiji's response: Absolutely. We undertake our actions with a vow to bring to fruition and to complete the task to the best of our ability. Whether this is verbalized or just thought is immaterial. The sankalpa is taken at the commencement of work.
