Guest guest
Dear fellow devotees of Kali, When I met Swamiji yesterday, I asked him a question on Kali that has been on my mind for a long time - "Why do some people fear Kali? Why do some of us hesitate to worship Her?" And Swamiji said (I paraphrase) "It is those people that want to hold onto their attachments that fear worshipping Her. She is dark because She has taken our darkness. " Let us not hold on to our attachments - let us simply surrender to Her will. Easier said than done ? Well, how about an experiment ? Let us live the next 9 days chanting Her names and praying for Her to show us the way to surrender our attachments. If you would like to join our Kali Sankalpa, please respond to the poll /surveys?id=12165664 .It will also be great if you can post telling us how your Kali sadhana is going on. We are starting tomorrow - ie 24th Oct 2005. Oh and here is the thing - if you dont have access to the 1000 names of Kali , you can still join in and chant Kali's bija mantra 1008 times. Kali's bija is "Om Kriim Kaalyai Namah" JAI KALI MAA Nanda
Guest guest
Dear Nanda, your post touched me, because I have just experienced a little bit of 'letting go' in connection with the sankalpa.I have been struggling lately, trying to comprehend the meaning of all that I have learned since I've come here, and trying to get a mental grip, so to speak, on the Divine Mother (all that grasping and mental struggling made Navaratri a rather painful experience, by the way). I had gone into a kind of mental cramp, wanting to hold on to what I think I know and trying to fit Her into the conceptual building I'd made of all my beliefs, 'translating' everything in terms I'm more used to etc, etc. (I'm sure many of you have had the same problem somewhere along the way). So I wondered if I should participate in the sankalpa at all, as long as I had not figured it all out (oh, the delusion...). Anyway, this morning I decided to do a pre-recital of the 1008 names of Kali, to see how long it would take (I was 'sure' it would take me to long, so I could not commit to the nine days, etc, etc). So I read, and then sang the names, or rather, they gradually started to sing themselves. And I felt so much lighter and happier. And I realized I don't need to 'comprehend' or know exactly why I am doing this and what it means. I can stop all this, and just sing...for Her, and let Her take care of the rest. So that's what I am going to do, just sing, nothing else, and I am very much looking forward to it. Thank you all for being here and creating the opportunity to share, with love, Henny , "Nanda" <chandimaakijai> wrote: > > Dear fellow devotees of Kali, > > When I met Swamiji yesterday, I asked him a question on Kali that has > been on my mind for a long time - "Why do some people fear Kali? Guest guest
Jai Kali Maa, dear family! i have happily completed the first 2 days of our 9 day Kali Sankalpa. i have always loved Kali Sahasranama; it is one of my very favorite stotrams. i also must say, i highly recommend learning this Sahasranama by listening to our Shree Maa chant it. It is also a lot of fun to chant it along with Her. You can find this wonderful CD [or in its cassette form] at this link: http://www.shreemaa.org/audio.htm May we all joyfully complete our Sankalpa! Thank-you Maa Kali for taking away the darkness and revealing the Light! We lay all our egoistic attachments at Your Lotus Feet. Jai Kali Shree Maa! Jai Shiva Swamiji! Jai Thakur Sri Ramakrishna Deva! Your sister dissolving in Maa's Light, muktimaa
