It is so nice to get your feedback - Linda glad to know that you are

chanting "Om Krim Kalyai Namah" . Thank you Sri Janaardanaji for

writing in with your experience.

Yes dear Berijoy, the Kali chanting does go by quickly . How is your

second day coming along ? Arent the words so rhythmic ? "Svayambhu

this" and "Svayambhu that " ... There is a lovely cadence to the

entire chant.

Kalia - so happy that you are able to join us. You are what we are seeking (the bliss of Kali );)

My dear brother Kanda , so glad that Ganesha is blessing you. Thank

you for participating and my pranams to you. Querida KC , thank you

too.

Would love to hear from others on their feedback on the Kali sankalpa.

A small tidbit that I would like to share...

Last weekend when I met Maa, I expressed my desire to Her of wanting

to learn about the 10 Mahavidyas. Maa was very happy and as usual She

wasted no time. She brought forth a Bengali book and expressed Her

wish to read and translate from the book to me. She asked me to take

the notes and post them on the group. With Her blessings and

Swamiji's grace, I am happy to put forth the notes here.

Here is the introduction to the Dasa Mahavidyas - or the ten Wisdom

Goddesses. More to come in the following days. JAI KALI MAANanda

=============================================================================

Sati, the consort of Shiva was the daughter of Daksha Prajapati a

descendant of Brahma. Sati had married Shiva against the wishes of

her father. The vain Daksha performed a great yagna (with the sole

aim of insulting Shiva), to which he invited all of the gods and

goddesses except his son-in-law Shiva. Sati learned about her

father's yajna from Narad muni. She asked Shiva's permission to

attend the yajna, saying that a daughter did not need an invitation

from her father. Shiva said that Daksha was trying to insult him, and

so even if Sati attended the yajna , the fruit of the sacrifice would

not be auspicious. Therefore he bade Sati not to attend the yajna.

Sati became furious - She thought that Shiva was treating her like an

ignorant lady and not as the mother of Universe. So to show Shiva who

she really was, she assumed a different form - the one of the Divine

Mother. The oceans raged and the mountains shook, the atmosphere was

filled with the wonder of her form.

Shiva began to shake and tried to flee. In every direction that he

tried to flee, the Divine mother stopped him. The Divine Mother had

multiplied herself into ten different forms guarding the ten

different directions and try as Shiva might, he could not escape from

her, as she had blocked every escape route. Each form of the Divine

Mother is a Mahavidya. The ten Mahavidyas are

1) Kali2) Bagala3) Chinnamasta4) Bhuvaneshwari5) Matangi6) Shorashi7)

Dhumavati8) Tripurasundari9) Tara10)Bhairavi

We will look into each of the Goddesses a little more closely, in the

following days leading upto

Diwali...=============================================================================================

Dear Nanda,

it seems my earlier reply to this post has disappeared into

cyberspace. Just wanted to say (and so I will say it again) that I am

thrilled Shree Maa asked you to act as intermediary, and we will be

taught about the Mahavidyas!

Looking forward to hearing more, thank you for your seva,

with love,

Henny
