In Re: Songs about Kali.Feminist songwriter Meg Christian became a

devotee ofGurumayi of the SYDA Yoga organization. She's writtena

number of very pretty English language songs aboutHinduism. One,

titled "Jai Guru," obviously usesimages taken from Kali's dhyana. I

sing it, slightlychanging the lyric (Changes marked with an

asterisk). As I remember it, it goes like this:

Wow! I can't believe someone today knows who Meg Christian is. She has

been one of my favorite songrwiters and singers for decades. She and

Chris Williamson both wrote much beautiful music, much of it in your

face, and much of it with, what to me were spiritual content.

Williamson's "Filling Up and Spilling Over" was one of these songs.

And I am so glad to be reminded of them because I wondered what

happened to them, and all the tapes I had were destroyed in an

unexpected blizzard my hubby and I were driving through in our rv. A

tire blew out; we had it replaced and kept going, never knowing that

the blowout had ripped a hole in the side of the trailer. So boxes of

stuff, including all my tapes, got soaked. But I was glad when I

googled them and found they are still alive and well and doing music.

: )

I didn't see Jai Guru anywhere. Is this on a particular album of Meg's.

Oh, also, I had the wonderful opportunity to hear these women play

live many times, in some cases in very intimate venues, when I lived

in Washington, DC.

I didn't see the lyrics to the song that followed your post. Can you re-post them?

Thank you and Blessings ~ Linda

the embodiment of love and compassion. In pure love there is no

burden. Nothing can be a burden to pure desireless love. Real love

can carry the entire universe without feeling any weight. Compassion

can shoulder the suffering of the entire world without feeling the

slightest bit of pain." --Ammachi, "Awaken Children," Vol.5, p41
