Guest guest
Hi Karen, Here's a story: "In the beginning, there was water everywhere. There was nothing to eat, nowhere to live, Prajapati (Lord Brahma) saw the plight of his children and Invoked Devi. The goddess whispered into his ear.,"The Earth lies trapped under the water Raise it up". Prajapati took the form of a mighty boar called Emusha, plunged into the sea and found the earth-goddess Bhoodevi or Bhumi on the ocean floor, Placing her on his snout, he gently raised her to the surface and then turned into akukpara, a giant turtle to offer Bhumi a seat on his back" (From "Devi"). Some say, Prajapati brought up a clod of dirt from beneath the sea and its exact size was the earth. If you would like to see a gorgeous rendering of Varaha, the Boar Avatar raising Bhumi to the Surface...check out Lotus Sculpture on line...plug in Varaha and you will see..there are two versions, the more costly one is the more wonderful...ah, isn't that the way...I would love to buy this sculpture....I love Varahi (Varaha's shakti)..hope this was helpful. love, sadhvi
