Guest guest
Hi Ramya/Linda, Thank you Ramya for your suggestion for a sankalpa for Thanksgiving and to you Linda for your enthusiastic support. The concept of giving thanks - even if it werent a holiday celebrated in the US, is very important to all of us . It highlights the attitude of gratitude - for all that we have been given. It reminds me of Maa's message to the Prayer Club this February. The message is ====================================== We are very proud that you are praying for this Universe. We pray that you ask yourself the question - what is the purpose of my life? what is my goal ? what do I want to give to this world to say "Thank you" for allowing me to be here? The asking of this question is the beginning of meditation and the answer to this question is life of prayer. Bless you, Shree Maa ====================================== Without question , we want to give thanks to everyone that has helped us in someway, for the privilege of being in this place , because we have been placed in so much a better position than many of our brothers and sisters. And we will all want to give our thanks in our own way. So on the 24th November, pick ANY TEXT of YOUR choice and chant it lovingly and with the utmost sincerity for the benefit of all those that have helped us in some way. It could be the Guru Gita or the Kali Sahasranam or the Chandi or the Rudri or simply chant any mantra a certain number of times... it is upto you. The common thread is that we ALL pray together and give our thanks on that day - but the deities prayed to will depend on your Ishta Devata. Would you like to join in on that day ? If so please vote Yes or Yes;) on the poll and let us know what your plans are for Thanksgiving - Prayer wise JAI MAA Nanda
Guest guest
Strange thing! On Thanksgiving I'll probably be sitting in court having to judge people who must have thought that if they committed a crime they would be so much happier and now they are quite unhappy - most of them at least. I am not a professional judge, but here in Germany we have a system that two people - an honorary post - sit with the professional judge on the bench, and they have to determine with him the question guilty or not and the sentence. This really brings back to me the disturbing question: How to be thankful in difficult times, in times of suffering? I can not say that I have solved this problem. No way! Anyway - I'll be chanting the Mahamrtyunjaya mantra and some psalms - being thankful for thankfulness and as a prayer not to be oblivious of thankfulness - or at least remembrance of god - in hard times. In any case I AM thankful for this website and for the great service you all are doing. I think Swamiji and Maa are the closest to finding a guru I have ever gotten, as far as that is possible via the internet and the mandir's publications. So - happy Thanksgiving to everybody!
