Guest guest
Dear Brothers and Sister, Om Namah Shivayah! By the grace of our Beloved Maa and Swamiji I was able to chant Chandi (Seedha Path) with samput for the first time last night. Chanting with samput means chanting a mantra or set of mantras before and after each verse. For example, if the samput is Om Aim Hreem Kleem Chamundaaiyae Vicche and the verse is "Om Devyuvacha" You would chant Om Aim Hreem Kleem Chamundaaiyae Vicche - Om Devyuvacha - Om Aim Hreem Kleem Chamundaaiyae Vicche Swamiji explains this in his book on Pronunciation and Chandi Samputs. In my case, I used my Guru mantra as the samput. I wish to share a few things that I discovered last night: First, you are sitting for a longer time. Second, day-before-yesterday, I tried chanting just one chapter with samput. I found that when chanting the subsequent chapters, my ability to remember my mantra before each verse improved. You become permeated with the samput. Third, my pronunciation improved because chanting with samput slows you down and makes you focus on the verses. Without samput, I would skip some syllables, especially the anuswaras. Fourth, The Chandi path contains 700 verses, by chanting with samput, I was able to repeat my mantra 1400 times, which is more than my daily goal of 10 malas of japa - what a deal!! Chandi Maa ki Jai!! With love and prayers srini
